Spoon Sports Crane Neck Carbon Wing - 23+ Civic Type R (FL5)

Aerodynamics is one of the most important themes in today’s tuning. A car already armed with exceptional performance, Spoon set their goal in developing a rear wing for the Civic Type R that can provide a wide range of setting options and even be effective in motorsports competition.

Applying CFD mechanics from initial design, the product under went wind tunnel testing to obtain proof of performance. After making numerous desktop considerations in terms of size, structure and wing angles, Spoon produced several prototypes. The prototypes were placed in a wind tunnel testing facility to take drag and downforce measurements. The prototypes that were observed to be effective in the wind tunnel were taken and installed to a car for real-world testing on track. The design was only finalized after rigorous comparison.

Implementing CFD to the initial design, desktop testing on various aspects, prototyping and wind tunnel testing. The product underwent numerous stages of development, finally being tested on track for lap times and feedback from Spoon's drivers. Spoon is confident that their development process for this product was efficient and effective.

The new Spoon Sports Crane Neck Wing (Carbon) provides optimum downforce with minimal drag to the Civic Type R, allowing a wide range of set ups for various driving stages.
